Walking Up the Steps of Faith
Every Journey Begins with One Step
We buy shoes to make walking as comfortable as possible. How do we equip ourselves to walk spiritually?
We are called to walk. vs. 1
If God calls you to do something, He will equip you to do what He has called you to do.
We must surrender to Christ to follow His call. You must totally give yourself over to God, not use God as a life improvement plan.
Becoming a Christian should make you a totally different person, not a better version of what you were.
To follow His call, we give up our rights to what we want and yield it to what God wants.
You are walking toward God, or you are walking away from Him, there is no hovering.
We must walk together. vs. 2-3
With humility and gentleness as we encounter people.
If we don't learn humility in a quiet place on our knees, God will teach humility to us in other ways.
We have to not only put up with others, we also need to love them.
It takes work to maintain unity of spirit and the bond of peace.
We must walk with focus and agreement. vs. 4-6
Some things we don't have to agree on...football teams, best car brand, etc.
We cannot disagree on certain essentials of the faith: Unity of the Body, One Spirit, One Hope, One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, One God and Father.
You know true freedom when you know where your boundaries are through Jesus Christ as Lord.
If God is not in you, then you cannot have this unity.
